Sibbaldia procumbens; the creeping sibbaldia is typically a plant of areas where there is heavy snow coverage in winter time. The flowers resemble the cinquefoil's. The petals however are characteristically smaller (shorter and narrower) than the sepals. Actually the opened "flower" seems to be tucked inside the green sepals. The plant is easily recognized by the trifoliate leaves , each leaflet having 3 terminal teeth (sometimes/rarely 4 or 5). It creeps over the ground. It grows on higher altitudes but also on lower altitudes where heavy snow coverage in winter is likely.
It is a member of the Rose family: Rosaceae. The Icelandic name of this species is Fjallasmári.
