Juncus filiformis; The Thread rush is common on Iceland except for the southern regions. The name "thread" reflects its characteristics. The flowers are found somewhere in the bottom half of the plant. Above the flower is a long needle-shaped bract. It grows on moist/wet grounds. The Icelandic name of this species is þráðsef.
It is a member of the rush family (Juncaceae).
