FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Gentianella campestris, Field Gentian, Marívöndur

Gentianella campestris; The field gentian is common in regions which are more or less favourable for vegetations. Thus it grows in all regions except for the central highlands and the "sandurs" on the south coast between the Vatnajökull and the Mýrdalsjökull. It is a delightfull little plant with rose flowers.
It is a member of the gentian family (Gentianaceae). The Icelandic name of this species is Marívöndur.
