FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Harrimanella hypnoides , aka Cassiope hypnoides, Cassiope, Mosalyng

Harrimanella hypnoides previously known as Cassiope hypnoides; Mossy Mountain-heather characteristically grows on snow beds and moist areas, usually in the higher parts of Iceland. The white bell-shaped flowers in combination with the moss-like trailing leafy stems makes this species easily recognizable.
It is a member of the Heath family (Ericaceae). The Icelandic name of this species is Mosalyng.
